After the Eilat bombing

The Euro-Mediterranean Human rights Network condemns attacks against civilians

On the 29th of January, the bombing in Eilat killed three Israeli civilians. This act can not be justified in any way and the Euro-Mediterranean Human rights Network strongly condemns it.

A few hours after this suicide bombing, Israeli forces carried out an aerial raid on the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli attack, that seriously endangered the lives of civilians not taking any part in the recent violent events, seems to be a punitive action which, as a principle, the Network condemns.

Blind reprisals can only re-start the cycle of violence and even more endanger the necessary dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians.

The Network calls on
The Israeli government to implement the United-Nations resolutions and in particular to put an end to the occupation of the Palestinian Territories
The Palestinian Authority to do everything in its power to prevent other bombings
All the parts involved to conform to international human rights and humanitarian law, abstaining from perpetrating acts which endanger the lives of civilians
A
ll the High Contracting Parties to the 4th Geneva Convention to react firmly against all Human Rights violations
