Tuomo Melasuo (Finland)
My name is Tuomo Melasuo, I'm the head of Finnish national network of Anna Lindh foundation for the dialogue between cultures. I'm committed to human rights because I think our future lies in promoting them in global as well as local levels. The work of the EMHRN is important in all different sectors, levels and context, in mediterranean societies, in euro-mediterranean environment and in Europe. What can we learn from southern countries in order to improve human rights in Europe and in euro-mediterranean relations ?
Fatma Bouamaied (Tunisia)
My name is Fatma Bouamaied and I'm a coordinator in an association. I committed myself to the defence of human rights because I'm convinced that you need to personnaly get involved if you really want things to change. In my opinion, a very important work of the Network is to create and animate the working groups. Another important thing is the part played by the Network in the creation of the foundation for the protection of the human rights defenders. As regards women's rights, the commitment of the Network is important because it is a long-term job but it still needs more visibility…
Yamina Rahou (Algeria)
My name is Yamina Rahou and I am a sociologist. Since i was a child, I've always been sensitive to the injustice. My commitment comes from the fact that in order for things to change, it is necessary to be personnaly involved in concrete actions. I think that the work of the EMHRN is important in particular in the creation of synergy between the organisations from the southern and northern banks of the Mediterranean, and from the other European countries. Thanks to the Network, we can meet and exchange valuable information and experiences through the working groups. The action of the network towards the international authorities and the states is an important action in order to promote and defend the human rights. That has positive repercussions in our countries, for example, the strategy of fight against the violences against women in Algeria was implemented by the government recently…
Amina Kadiri (Morocco)
My name is Amina Kadiri and I am a researcher and a teacher in human geography. I grew up in an environment of activism. My father was a nationalist opposed to the French protectorate. My older sister is an activist in a left wing party, and I have been interested in human rights since my youth. I think that the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network is a well organized structure in which the various representatives of NGOs get along well. By dealing with the question of gender, the EMHRN does an important work in promoting the equality between men and women especially in the countries of the South.
Ronen Shimoni (Israel)
My name is Ronen Shimoni and I'm a data Department Director. I arrived to the Human Rights field after years as a humanitarian aid worker specialized in Humanitarian Mine clearance in war zones and third world countries. Since I moved back to Tatiana San Millán Del Valle (Spain)
My name is Tatiana San Millán Del Valle and I'm a Project Coordinator. I'm committed to human rights because I think another world is possible... In order to reach that goal we need human rights and a political change as well as a change of economic system. Working with networks as EMHRN is interesting and useful but a parallel work is needed. The work within the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network is a kind of "amplifier" for the goals and activities of our organisations...
Omar Suliman Qadurah (Jordan)
Abdellatif Chahboun (Morocco)
My name is Abdellatif Chahboun and I am a university professor. I commited myself to the defense of human rights in order to promote and improve democratisation and respect of the human rights in the Euromed area. My name is Christopher Hein and I'm the director of the Italian Council for Refugees. I have learned to be skeptical regarding all ideologies, but human rights are not one. They don't promise paradise on earth. They simply say what should be done in order to ensure the living together of all human beings regardless of race, nationality, religion or gender. The defense of human rights requires cooperation of civil society agents in the region that has given birth to the idea of human rights. My particular interest is the promotion of the rights of refugees and migrants originating from or passing through the Euro-Mediterranean region. The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network is the only body that provides and environment for achieving this goal.
Nouzha Lamrani (Morocco)
My name is Nouzha Lamrani and I am a professor and a researcher. I wish the construction of a better and fairer world where discriminations at all levels would not exist any more, that's why I committed myself to the defense of human rights. Partnership and networking are important tools to improve the situation in the euromed area and the EMHRN provides both, which makes it very useful.
Catherine Teule (France)
My name is Catherine Teule and I am a Lecturer of Economics at the Sorbonne Nouvelle, Paris.I am committed to human rights as the implementation of citizenship is indivisible from the promotion and defense of basic rights and their universality.
I am member of the Human Rights League (LDH) and the European Association for the Defense of Human Rights; These two organisations, like the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network , work in particular on the migration issues where relationships between the European Union and third world countries are essential. The contribution to public discussion, information exchanges between associations based in the South and other countries of the EU or with the European institutions are all extremely important.

Houcine Bardi (France)
My name is Houcine bardi. I am a lawyer in Paris. A “good” life together with and for the others within fair institutions requires above all the respect of the human dignity. This one (with all its components; the various private and public laws) is constantly abused in particular in the non democratic countries… In order to defend our humanitude (what makes us human beings…) and to fight the arbitrary and the injustice, I committed myself to defend human rights according to an universalistic approach based on the common heritage of the whole humanity…
The Network is from now on a powerful institution which settled durably in the regional landscape (even international) related to the defense of human rights. It is an extremely effective actor who has considerably supported human rights in the Mediterranean area and succeeded in creating a profitable synergy between actors who were insulated before. To me, it is the most advanced experiment as regards coordination of the defense of human rights at the regional level.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Network has an important role in ensuring that EU is implementing its commitments to promotion of human rights.
