Conclusion of a training session on the monitoring of elections held for local monitors in Kuwait
 
The work of the training session on the monitoring of elections held for local monitors was concluded in Kuwait. The session was organized by the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies [ACHRS] and the Election Network in the Arab Region [ENARA] in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Labor Umbrella and the Kuwaiti Association for the Development of Democracy. A total of 25 male and female participants from the various Kuwaiti civil society organizations were enrolled in the session.
 
The session dealt with training on the various topics related to the elections, namely, the international criteria of the elections and the process of election monitoring starting from the declaration of the date of the election until the end of making decisions on the elections appeals. It also dealt with the reasons why we monitor the elections as well as the rules governing the attitude of the monitors, the process of monitoring the elections, the role of the monitor at the beginning of the elections, the balloting process, closure of the ballot boxes, vote counting, the declaration of the results, and practical applications. 
 
It should be recalled that the ACHRS organized three years ago a total of 36 election training sessions in which 815 male and female participants from Jordan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Bahrain, Kuwait and Qatar took part. Moreover, the Election Network in the Arab Region [ENARA] monitored the elections in a number of Arab countries, namely, Jordan, Yemen, Mauritania, Bahrain and Morocco.
 
It is noteworthy that the Election Network in the Arab Region [ENARA] will apply to the competent authorities to grant it permission to monitor the legislative elections in Kuwait and the elections of the councils of governorates in Iraq which will be held this year.
